“May God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together—spirit, soul, and body—and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:23 (MSG)
Alice, a young woman in Mombasa, Kenya, knows firsthand the devastation of poverty. Her family was called “cursed” by her aunts and uncles. They had no real home, just sticks, rope and a tarp. Alice watched as her older sisters married as teens and as her younger brother died after being exposed to the wet night air.
But Alice’s broken beginning wasn’t the end of her story. Jesus promised those who follow him wholeness, and that’s exactly what he had in store for Alice.
Through the Compassion center and the support of her loving sponsors, Kevin and Kristy, Alice experienced the fullness of life Jesus came to deliver.
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” — John 10:10 (NIV)
With a safe home, an education to help her reach her dreams and the love of Jesus in her heart, Alice is no longer shattered — she’s physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually whole.
