Nate Solder is a towering professional football offensive lineman. Any other day, you’d find him on an NFL field, but today he’s squeezed himself into a potato sack, flinging his body toward a finish line. His young opponents, half his height, hop past him with big smiles. The 10-year NFL veteran is left in their dust.
Nate, along with other sporting legends, including Chase Daniel, Colt McCoy, Reza Zadeh and Jaime Garcia, partnered with Compassion International to bring joy and Jesus’ love to kids in Guatemala.
“Being goofy and silly, putting sacks on our feet that are way too short, to not only share the wisdom of sports but also to share the gospel, has been an uplifting and amazing experience,” says Nate.
Adds Colt McCoy, “You always think you’re giving back, but in the end, it’s your heart that is changed.”
The athletes traveled to Guatemala for the special outreach mission. Children from Compassion’s program joined them for a time filled with fun, food, fellowship and worship.
As Reza shared, “It’s pretty amazing to watch children gather together to hear the gospel of Jesus. No matter what language it’s preached in, the Holy Spirit is bringing people together no matter where they’re from.”
