Hope is powerful. To hope, according to Merriam-Webster, means to cherish a desire with anticipation. As Christians, we anticipate eternal life with Jesus, knowing we’ll one day be with him. No matter what tomorrow brings, we have hope that lasts in Jesus.

Being confident in the love of God fuels this hope in us. After all, he’s in control and has good things in store for all of us now and for eternity! The Bible verses about hope found here solidify this truth.

All Scripture is written in NIV unless otherwise noted.

What the Bible Says About Hope Despite Our Circumstances

We all go through hard and terrifying things that threaten to break us down. But even the darkest of circumstances aren’t hopeless for those who love God.

In fact, God’s Word says that when we hope in him, we soar!

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. — Isaiah 40:30-31, NIV

Sharing Our Hope With Those in Need

The hope we have in Jesus is life-changing! This is especially true for those in need, such as those living in seemingly hopeless circumstances like poverty. God’s Word instructs us to share what we’ve been given with those who need it, including our hope.

And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. — Hebrews 13:16, NIV

One way we can share our hope is by helping children living in poverty. These children are without the critical necessities they need to survive, from nutrition to medical care. But by sponsoring a child, you can change that.

When you become a sponsor, you share the good news of the gospel in word and action with a child. Not only will you share the hope of Jesus with them, but you’ll also provide for their right-now needs, such as food and clean water. Your “yes” gives them hope for tomorrow despite the darkness of poverty.
