COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – December 16, 2024 – This year, Compassion International ranks #12 on the Forbes ‘America’s Top 100 Charities’ list, making it the largest privately funded international Christian child development organization in the USA.

According to their website, Forbes’ rankings are based on the amount of private contributions received by each of the two million charities in the United States. Government grants, payment for services rendered and investment returns are not included.

Compassion International partners with local churches in 29 countries to provide child development programs for 2.3 million children in poverty. While the organization celebrates the ranking, leaders say none of it would be possible without the help of their dedicated supporters, employees, volunteers, foundations and ministry partners. To each of them, the organization is grateful for their ongoing trust and investment in the lives of children.

“We are humbled and continually grateful to the Lord for the opportunity to serve children living in poverty. The ability to do so is a testament to God’s faithfulness and to the extraordinary generosity of our donors who believe in this mission,” shares Joe Wilkins, chief financial officer for the organization. “Without their financial support, much of this is not possible. Every sponsorship, and every donation, has played a crucial role in effecting transformation in the life of a child.”

Transformation was most recently evidenced in a new Compassion study focused on alumni in the Dominican Republic: it shows strong, long-term, positive impacts and ripple effects of the organization's child development program.

Continually guided by a desire to reach children in the neediest regions of the world, Compassion also recently expanded its efforts into four new countries: Cambodia, Malawi, Myanmar and Zambia. All of it was made possible through the generous giving of donors and Compassion’s partnership with local churches working tirelessly on behalf of their communities and its children.
