How We Help Babies

From inside the womb through a baby's first year of life, Compassion Survival provides the essential care that a baby needs to survive and thrive. The prenatal care and nutritious food that a mom receives ensures that her baby thrives. Newborns registered with Survival have up to a 30% better chance of having a normal birth weight. Additionally, 93.6% of births were attended by a skilled healthcare professional, increasing survival rates of newborn babies!

Each Survival center is staffed with warm, caring, knowledgeable individuals that serve babies extremely well. Your gift helps tens of thousands of babies reach their first birthday as happy, healthy infants who successfully hit important development milestones.

EVERYDAY, WE HELP BABIES LIKE CARLOS

Carlos was born with a physical malformation his parents were not financially or mentally prepared to manage. Through the Compassion Survival Program, he was given a second chance at life.

His mother shares, “My baby was born with a physical malformation, and I was shocked and found myself helpless when the doctors gave me the sad news. I couldn’t afford a surgery, and I felt like my son was not going to make it. I’m grateful to the program that my son is alive.” Without the program, Carlitos (little Carlos) would not have been provided the opportunity to receive treatment for his rare medical condition after birth, and he may not have survived.

Carlitos is now almost two years old and has broken the cycle of death that surrounds his community. "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." (Jeremiah 1:5)

Compassion's Survival is a powerful way to help children escape the cycle of poverty. Your support will babies survive and thrive, despite the difficulties of living in poverty. The odds are already stacked against babies born in poverty, and Survival offers an opportunity to change this reality. Your prayers and financial support are invaluable.

Compassion Survival works through the local church to help mothers learn to care for their babies. Babies will receive monthly growth monitoring, immunizations, supplies such as diapers, food supplements, and a lot of love. When a baby is ready to be born, a birth attendant and advocate is there to support the mother and baby.
