Chief People and Culture Officer
Tom has a heart for impoverished children and a strong belief in the transformative power of the Church. As a consultant, he helped a variety of global parachurch organizations with organizational and team development, governance and executive coaching.
In 2005, Tom started doing consulting work for Compassion International, and in 2013, he joined our ministry as the senior director of International Human Resources. Today, as chief People & Culture officer, Tom leads talent acquisition, diversity and inclusion, people and organization development, P&C business partners, operations, communications, events and facilities in providing holistic care and supporting the well-being of Compassion’s global workforce. He considers it a joy to be part of a ministry where individuals with unique backgrounds and skill sets join together to serve children and glorify God.
Tom brings to Compassion more than two decades of leadership and operational experience, including a proven track record of revenue growth. As a founding partner of Blockbuster Midwest and Boston Chicken, Inc., he was instrumental in launching the Blockbuster Video, Boston Market and Einstein Bagel franchises.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Arizona, Tom attained a Master of Business Administration in finance from Southern Methodist University.
In 1998, Tom married his wife, and they are blessed to have two adult stepchildren and two granddaughters. Tom enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, learning the guitar and traveling.
