Vice President of the Asia Region
Sharon was born into a small family in the northern part of Sri Lanka. His heart for the poor is deeply rooted in his faith and his childhood in the northern villages of Sri Lanka, where he witnessed firsthand the impact of poverty and war-related displacement on children, including himself. This experience has shaped his life mission to serve those in need and champion peace, unity and justice for all.
Sharon joined Compassion in 2010 and has served in various roles, including Asia Regional Program Advisor, Interim National Director of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, Asia Regional Director of Program Support and Senior Regional Director of Program in Asia.
Prior to joining Compassion, he served with other international development organizations, where he gained experience in program management, grant management, monitoring and evaluation, and program design and implementation. His career has been characterized by a dedication to building impactful programs that bring sustainable change to communities in need.
Sharon holds a Master’s degree in Development Studies and Public Policy, as well as a Master of Business Administration.
Sharon and his wife, Nadi, are proud parents to their two wonderful children, Karina and Kevan. Together, they reside in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Sharon remains deeply connected to his roots, drawing inspiration from his early experiences to fuel his lifelong commitment to serving others. He is a passionate advocate for vulnerable children, working tirelessly to ensure they have opportunities to thrive and overcome the barriers of poverty and hardship. He also invests in the next generation, equipping them with the skills, values, and vision needed to make a meaningful impact on their communities and beyond.
