Vice President of MERL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning)
Kathy Goss joined Compassion in 2018 and has served in several key roles: quantitative program effectiveness research specialist, manager of the Monitoring & Evaluation Technical Advising Team, and senior director of MERL. She was named vice president of MERL in 2024.
While serving as the senior director of MERL, Kathy co-led a team of 70 global staff members to develop the first globally standardized child and youth outcomes measures, a “top needs dashboard” for National Offices, and the first church and youth satisfaction measures.
Before joining Compassion, Kathy was Vice President of Programs and Impact at Forgotten Voices International, a Christian nonprofit focused on supporting children and their families orphaned by HIV/AIDS. She also spent 14 years as a civilian employee of the US Navy.
Kathy and her husband, David, have been married for 24 years. They have two children in college, Michael, a student at the University of Pittsburgh, and Sophia, who attends Haverford College. They live in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, with their two dogs.
