James Hansen joined Compassion in 2009 as vice president of the Office of Risk Management.
The Office of Risk Management protects the integrity and reputation of the global ministry through the design, implementation, and management of the organization’s operational and technology audit and risk management programs. Before serving with Compassion, James led the construction audit team for the City of Colorado Springs and held various audit roles for Farmers Insurance Group, including as director of a large operational and financial audit group.
James earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Sam Houston State University, obtained CPA and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency certifications, and has completed risk management and nonprofit performance executive education courses at Harvard Business School.

His favorite scripture is Hebrews 3:13: “But encourage one another daily as long as it is called ‘Today,’ so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.”
