Shawn Eric Hall, 59 of Hagerstown, MD died tragically on Monday, May 29, 2023. Shawn was born November 11, 1963 to Warren and Sandra Hall of St. Marys, WV.
As a graduate of St. Marys High School with the class of 1982, Shawn was a member of the SMHS Marching Band and the SMHS Choir. During his youth he was an active member of the St Marys Baptist Church and also served as a member on the St Marys VFD and Pleasants County Volunteer Emergency Squad. After high school Shawn enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served from 1984-1991 as a Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) specialist. During his time in the Air Force he was stationed in Aschaffenburg, Germany, Anchorage, Alaska, and Watertown, New York. After his time in the military Shawn then moved to Alabama where he graduated from Samford University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Education. While there he was a member of the Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity. He was a minister of education and student ministry at Ozark Baptist Church in Ozark, AL. After moving back home to WV he was youth pastor at New Hope Baptist Church and Fairlawn Baptist Church in Parkersburg, as well as the senior pastor at Pine Grove Baptist Church.
Shawn’s passion was his global mission outreach to Ghana, Uganda, the Phillipines, Thailand and Cambodia as well as helping his fellow man through his service to the community. His ministry then moved into the West Virginia and Maryland correctional systems where he served as a chaplain. He was a member of the Hagerstown Church and he actively served there until the time of his death. Shawn was a 32nd degree Mason and he was with the lodge in Hagerstown, MD. He had a great love for his dog Xena, and his late dog Sadie.
Shawn is survived by his beloved son, Wesley Hall of Houston, TX. 2 sisters, Sherry (Bob) Maston and Michelle Runnion (Malcolm Webb). 3 nieces, Katie Forshey, Kayla Umstot, Anna Runnion and 2 nephews, Rob Maston and Jared Runnion. 1 Aunt, Martha Fletcher, 3 Uncles, Donnie Alderman, Jon Hall and Scott Hall, many great-nieces, nephews and cousins.
Shawn was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Sandra Hall, a sister, Sandra Hall and his grandparents Nick and Wyoma Alderman, Julian and Lorna Hall.
