DESCRIPTION
The Compassion Journey is a family-friendly, 30-minute audio-guided trip through six hands-on learning stations.
Each station represents a reality for children growing up in extreme poverty:
- What do they eat?
- How do they live?
- What do they fear?
- What do they dream about?
- What are their prayers?
Five to six guests travel together as a group between the stations at their own pace. To help process some unique challenges of poverty, Compassion provides guided discussion questions to start spiritual conversations. Individuals/families have time to consider a compassionate response to their journey. At the end there is an invitation to sponsor a child as a way to put faith principles into action.
OUTCOMES
Although we may never think of ourselves as materially rich, most of us live in the top 2% of the world’s wealthiest people.* How do we communicate this to our children who are growing up in a culture of comfort and self-centeredness? Journey opens the minds and hearts to see the world from a different perspective. Our goal is to give participants a way to put faith into action (James 2). Often spiritual growth is the outcome when faith is paired with action.
