Horton is onto something in his famous role in Horton Hears a Who. When a dust speck is dislodged into the Jungle of Nool, Horton sees the speck and hears a tiny yelp. He’s sure that speck of dust contains a new society of little creatures!

Dr. Seuss had a creative imagination, but his message is loud and clear. In fact, Dr Seuss placed such value on children that he often referred to them as “people” rather than “children.” He is known for saying, “So, open your mouth, lad! For every voice counts!” Every voice matters, even the smallest child.

God has given each person worth, no matter how small. On the last day of creation, God finished His work with a personal touch. He created man with His own breath and in His image. Do you know that you are made in the image of God too? That means that your immaterial part is like God. You can reason and choose. You have a moral compass.

That means that you were made with care! You are valuable. You have a voice because God made you that way. You are an expression of God’s glory. Seuss was right when he said, “A person’s a person, no matter how small”… or big!

GOD SAID TO BE DISCIPLES

From Tragedy to Hope

May 4 was a date that I dreaded. In 2006, I was in a horrible car wreck and for the first 2 years after that, I dreaded that date. In my prayer time one day I asked God to take this tragedy and show His Glory! I checked with Compassion and found that I could pick a child by their birthdate. I specifially found a child with a birthday of May 4th. Today instead of spending that day crying, I have a birthday party for my sponsor child. My life and her life have both been changed.
