Abandoned by his parents, baby Baraka was taken in by his grandmother, Elizabeth. With limited income and few prospects, Elizabeth knew raising Baraka would be difficult. But then, she found an unexpected ally: a local church registering children into the new Compassion center. Suddenly, Elizabeth’s fear and anxiety lifted, and Baraka had an opportunity to thrive. Because friends like you care about a child as a whole person, Baraka could go to school, have his malnutrition treated and see how loved, known and protected he was.

“I want him to achieve his dream, and I will always pray for him,” says Elizabeth.
